'Episode', College of European & American Studies Council

On 29 March, 'Episode' was elected as the College Council of European & American Studies. 'Episode' was the only candidate campaigning in this college, and they were elected with 147 votes in favor and seven against. 150 students participated in the online by-election.

Before they were elected, Lee Dong-geun, president of the College of European & American Studies said, "In addition to COVID-19, all of us have been feeling the pain of the absence of the College Student Council since 2020. I am sure that the students have all suffered with a lot of inconvenience during this time. I can clearly remember my previous college life which was so joyful. That is why I decided to run in this by-election. I think the Student Council is a group that helps students to have a comfortable school life. I will focus on this part and try my best." Additionally, vice-president Park Hyun-wook said, "I want to make happy memories with every student for one year out of four years. Just like the 'episode' that will remind students of their enjoyable college life in the future, we will do our best to make 2022 a good 'episode' for them."

'Episode' has twelve pledges in total, which include pledges related to students' soccer games, students' membership training, a printer using system, a 'Cultural Day' where students can make memories in cinema, agreements with restaurants and amenities near schools, and a quiz event.

A public hearing was held on 24 March for question-and-answer sessions. 'Episode' answered and explained about their pledges, stating, "We are considering ten places for partnership agreements, including restaurants. The student council has remained vacant since 2020. After being elected, we will listen to the opinions of students and select some specific places. Plus, COVID-19 should not be a big problem for holding soccer games because there are already many students playing soccer wearing masks properly. In addition, all pledges will be possible within the budget, so that should not be a problem, either."

Both candidates gave a final statement before the by-election. They said, "BUFSians, you guys are the owners of the school. We will try to regain the rights of all students which have disappeared due to the absence of the College Council, and re-create a pleasant university life. Thank you to all students who attended."

'Hive', College of Humanities & Social Sciences Student Council

The College of Humanities & Social Sciences had one nominee for the student council of their college, 'Hive'. The president of this student council is Kwon Seong-hyun, from the Department of Social Welfare. The vice president is Son Jae-heon, from the Department of Police Administration. They dream to make a better environment for the students in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences.

On the day of the election, students who agreed to vote in advance had the right to vote online. On the site, students could vote 'yes' or 'no' for the only nominee. Out of 97 students who had signed up in advance to vote, 89 students (91%) clicked yes, and eight students (9%) clicked no. As the result shows, the 'Hive' Student Council was officially nominated as the 2022 student council of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences.

First, Hive will make a 'College of Humanities & Social Sciences points system'. Points can be gained when BUFSians participate in activities held by College of Humanities & Social Sciences and the total number of points a student collects will be added up at the end of the semester. According to this point system, scholarships will be given to students who rank in the top ten. When asked how much money will be awarded to those students, they said, "The amount of funds given will be low. This is because we want to give scholarships to as many students as possible."

Second, Hive plans to prepare welfare goods such as umbrellas, portable electric charging devices, and female sanitary products for students to use in emergency situations. The problem that needs to be addressed with this service is the rent and return of the goods. When asked about how they are going to deal with this problem, they said, "Registration papers will be prepared for students to fill out, and if the products are not returned on time, there will be a notification."

Third, the total amount of money spent by each department's student council in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences will be opened to the public on a selected date. When detailing the usage of money to the public, it is important to be transparent. When asked about how they are going to make the information public, they said, "We will post it in front of the office's bulletin board. We will post the receipts. Also, we will post all expenditures on our social network services."

'Impact', College of Commerce & Business Student Council

Candidates for the College of Commerce & Business student council, 'Impact', successfully concluded the 2022 by-election. president candidate Jeon Min-jae, Department of Economics and Finance, and vice president candidate Kim Hyo-min, Department of Accounting, ran under the slogan 'We will create an impactful university life for students.' They made various pledges that were linked to the word 'impact'. The pledges were divided into Memory, Passion, Activity, Contact, and Talk sections. Representatively, in the 'Memory' part, glamping and group events were put forward as representative pledges for students' memories. As part of the 'Contact' part, they announced a pledge to mentor students from other colleges. This pledge was aimed at those university students who have to choose a double major. They said it would provide opportunities to interact with students from other colleges.

The president and vice-president of Commerce & Business said, "We are planning to go on a glamping trip this autumn and make a place of harmony. Anybody who is willing to participate in glamping can sign up for this trip. However, we are sorry to tell you that there will be a limit to the number of people due to the COVID-19 situation. Therefore, we will be using the first-come, first-served method and we hope many students will participate. We are also planning to run mentoring programs with other college students. Through this process, we will help other college students studying double majors with their difficulties. We have already made an agreement with the College of European & American Studies and we are planning to make an agreement with other colleges after we get elected. Last but not least, we will evaluate the activities, planning, and participation rates of all clubs in each department, and based on the results we will give one club in each department a small subsidy. We hope that clubs will develop more activities and in doing so attract more students to their department clubs."

Last year, a total of 211 voters participated in the vote. This year saw a decrease in the number of voters, down to 169, with 154 votes in favor and 15 against. The reason was that online voting was conducted due to COVID-19. Students had to agree to use personal information in advance to vote. However, the total number of participants in the vote was low because students who were not aware of this could not participate in the vote.
