The Educational Renovation IR center of Busan University of Foreign Studies announced on September 23 that the NOMAD Scholarship Index will be integrated into the Non-Curriculum NOMAD ability Index from the second semester of the 2022 school year through the NOMAD System General Notice. From the second semester, the NOMAD Scholarship Index will be abolished, and the non-curriculum index will not affect the grade ranking. Accordingly, the non-curriculum NOMAD ability index scholarship system has been established.
The NOMAD non-curriculum index scholarship system is a tuition reduction scholarship given to students who have accumulated high scores on the non-curriculum index on a semester-by-semester basis among students who participated in and completed all non-curriculum programs in the school. The period when students can gather points includes all non-curriculum activities from the last vacation to the final day of final examinations of the relevant semester. At the end of the semester, the students who have accumulate the most points and place in the top 3% of the cumulative scores receive scholarships, with each student receiving a scholarship of KRW 150,000 per person. If there are a number of students with the same number of points, the student who has completed more non-curriculum programs is given priority, and if the students still cannot be split, the student with a higher average rating for the previous semester is given the scholarship.
A representative for the IR center said, "With the change in our university scholarship system, the NOMAD non-curriculum scholarship index (referred to as the Scholarship Index) has been integrated into the non-curriculum NOMAD ability index (referred to as the non-curriculum index), eliminating the burden on the scholarship index filled for each semester. In addition, in the NOMAD ability system, non-curriculum (Y/N) programs were opened regardless of scholarship, and the choice of non-curriculum programs was expanded. Students may feel that the importance of the non-curriculum index has decreased during their school years. However, the NOMAD graduation certification, which has been applied since 2017, and the 'NOMAD non-curriculum index scholarship,' which is provided as a tuition reduction scholarship to high scorers of the cumulative NOMAD non-curriculum index every semester, remain the same as before, so please refer to it." Since the NOMAD scholarship index has been abolished, students who want to focus on improving their grades should challenge the scholarship system, and students who want to focus on obtaining the non-curriculum index should choose to challenge the non-curriculum index scholarship system. This will help students acquire scholarships.
