Recently, Busan University of Foreign Studies ranked first in overseas employment for the eighth consecutive year among four-year universities. This achievement seems to be the result of BUFS's steady operation of many programs such as K-MOVE and Cheonghaejin, expanding overseas employment to major countries such as the U.S., Japan, and Mexico, as well as Indonesia and Thailand. Since 2015, BUFS has been consistently introducing and running the K-MOVE program and Cheonghaejin projects, which are overseas employment training projects. As a result, it was possible to expand the overseas employment target to countries in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia and Thailand, as well as to continue to target major countries such as the United States, Japan, and Mexico. It was found that these training projects played a major role in increasing the overseas employment rate of BUFS. This is also the reason why overseas employment training projects should be expanded despite difficulties such as COVID-19.

In addition, based on the experience of a project called B-MOVE, BUFS has been developing and running its own overseas employment training programs since 2017. A new program called "Overseas Employment Legend" was opened to strengthen overseas employment capabilities. The main programs that BUFS runs to promote overseas employment support students with local language education and job education through intensive domestic and overseas training and then link students into overseas employment. BUFS operates a wide variety of programs, including the Global Marketer Experience Group, which gives students marketing experience abroad for local buyers in foreign countries. Moreover, several overseas employment lectures have also been opened.

Recently, the Global Leadership Program: GLP, a special U.S. overseas employment program run by the Division of International Trade at BUFS in 2021, showed excellent results. The program aims to provide overseas employment opportunities through education in various areas such as career consulting, English history, interviewing and writing skills. Students who participate in the program will improve their work capabilities through both online and offline education, conduct job interviews with branches of large U.S. trade, and logistics companies, and be assigned tasks dealing with import and export, logistics, sales & marketing, and accounting. This overseas employment program predominantly targets students who are close to graduating and will expand into Vietnam and the general Southeast Asia region, COVID-19 situation permitting. Thirteen international trade students participated in the U.S. overseas employment program, and a total of ten students passed interviews with U.S. branch and logistics companies (CJ Logistics, LG FNS, etc.). These students will subsequently leave for the U.S. around March and work in the import and export, logistics, business, sales and marketing areas. Through the U.S. overseas employment program, students were able to improve their skills required for employment. The Division of International Trade at BUFS now aims to ensure that all students who applied for the program succeed in finding jobs abroad.

Professor Kim Nam-soo of the Division of International Trade said, "In a situation where job seeking is very difficult due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, we are running a special U.S. overseas employment program to provide employment opportunities to students. We were able to provide a lot of interest and support to students preparing to get a job overseas so that students could be reborn as excellent global talents by getting opportunities to improve their English skills. Especially given the COVID-19 situation, it feels very rewarding that ten students were successfully employed in the U.S. through special overseas employment programs. If the COVID-19 situation eases in the future, we will expand the program to Vietnam and Southeast Asia to provide more job opportunities to students. Since the GLP program will continue to operate in the second half of every year starting this year, I hope more students will be interested in overseas employment and take this good opportunity.”
