Busan University of Foreign Studies has many programs and international activities for students to experience diverse fields. On August 23, another door of new opportunities opened for students at BUFS. This is because BUFS successfully established an internship dispatch agreement with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO for the first time at a provincial university. Through this agreement, students of BUFS will gain more opportunities to enhance their international competence.

UNESCO is the only United Nations organization that has a national commission system to catalyze related activities in member countries. 199 national commissions across the world have two main functions, to provide information for UNESCO activities inside each country in cooperation with UNESCO related organizations such as government and civil society, and also to execute regional and international programs. The Korean National Commission for UNESCO has also signed agreements with Yonsei University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Ewha Womens University, and Korea National University of Education.

The agreement was made by Kim Hong-ku, former President of BUFS, and Han Kyung-ku, secretary general of the Korean National Commission. Former President of BUFS, Kim Hong-ku, directly discussed about the internship agreement. Moreover, secretary general, Han Kung-ku has been invited to BUFS to give a special lecture in October.
