The Department of International Trade at BUFS is running the Global Leadership Program (GLP) for a second time. The GLP is a special US-based overseas employment program.

This year, the GLP aims to provide BUFS graduates (including those about to graduate) with overseas employment opportunities in branches of ten major Korean enterprises that have advanced into the American market, as well as local American enterprises that deal with trade, logistics, and so on, and which are linked to the Department of International Trade.

The scope of the GLP consists of career consultations, business exploration, and improving English writing skills for resumes and interviews by inviting experts in overseas employment as keynote speakers.

15 chosen students from International Trade majors or double majors enhanced their work performance through hybrid courses from October 24 to November 10. After taking interviews with the US-based Korean enterprises (LX Pantos Co., FNS Inc., LG Energy Solution, CJ Logistics Inc., etc.), and American trade enterprises in Silicon Valley, or middle-sized trade/logistics enterprises, it is expected that the students will be sent to work in these companies and assigned in the works such as wokring-level importing/exporting, logistics, business, sales & marketing, HR, accounting, and so on.

Kim Nam-soo, a professor in the Department of International Trade at BUFS, said, "The department decided to run the GLP again to help BUFSians acquire more employment opportunities in the challenging job market due to the lasting COVID-19 pandemic." In addition, "In order to help the participants enhance both their employment potential and English skills, we will invest a great deal of interest and support so that they can develop into global highfliers," the professor said.

Previous GLP participants have been successful; Lee Jung-sik (currently in CJ Logics), and Hwang Da-eun (LG Energy Solution) had been offered full-time positions, meaning that their internship salary rose from 45 million KRW to around 70 million KRW.

GLP is ran annually in the second half for BUFS graduates (including those expected to graduate) and there are plans to expand the target countries to Vietnam and Southeast Asia depending on the further COVID-19 pandemic flow.
