As a student of Busan University of Foreign Studies, studying at a foreign university should be one of the goals and opportunities that cannot be missed in university life. Until 2019, BUFS was running active exchange programs with many foreign universities, although the programs were suspended for two years due to the COVID 19 situation. However, as more countries began to re-open their borders from the second semester of last year, the prospect for a return of the student exchange program is becoming more viable.

BUFS has several types of exchange programs. The representative student exchange programs of BUFS include the 2+2, and 3+1 dual degree systems, as well as the short-term programs such as 7+1 and SAP. In the case of the 2+2 program, all students can apply to study at any of the universities involved, with the exception of Vietnam, which only accepts students majoring in Vietnamese. However, in the case of the dual degree system for English speaking countries, only students who have officially enrolled in the ‘Woeseong track’ can study abroad. Currently, the 2+2 program is cooperating with 15 universities in China, six in Japan, five in the United States, and three in Australia. In the case of the SAP program, those students who are taking part in the first semester of this year have already travelled abroad. In January, students departed for Selkirk University in Canada and Ankara University in Turkey. In this way, the international situation is gradually improving. Students can find out more about the universities in China and Japan which cooperate on exchange programs with BUFS on the Office of International Affairs website. Programs which involve exchanges with other countries can be found on the websites of individual departments.
