As the COVID-19 took hold, one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy has been delivery platforms such as 'Yogiyo', 'Baemin', and 'Coupangeats'. Due to the many restrictions, most people preferred to order food deliveries instead of going to restaurants to eat. In order to solve the problem of increasing delivery costs, the government has implemented a delivery cost disclosure system that analyses and discloses delivery costs for the various delivery platforms.
Recently the cost of delivery has increased rapidly. In order to offset these rising costs, many people prefer 'take out' or joint delivery purchases to standard deliveries. The delivery cost disclosure system will start by region and item and gradually expand in the future. However, many industries are questioning the delivery cost disclosure system. One of the biggest reasons is that many delivery platforms already post their delivery costs and the customers can choose and compare which platform to order from. Moreover, the circumstances of delivery costs are different according to every company, region, and local area and it has no relationship with price competition. The increasing delivery costs are related to the lack of riders who are able to keep up with the supply and simply revealing the costs of each delivery platform is not a solution.
