1. The Graduate School establishes graduation requirements to ensure that international students enrolled in master’s and doctoral degree programs achieve an appropriate level of language proficiency before graduation, in order to improve their academic abilities and ensure the rigor of degree conferral.
※ International students currently undergo a thorough language proficiency verification process at the time of admission. At the time of graduation, they are advised and guided to maintain language proficiency equal to or higher than the level at admission.
2. Starting from new and transfer students admitted in the 2022 academic year, the Graduate School will verify the official language proficiency (language test scores) of international students in the semester in which they intend to graduate (or complete their program). Students must meet the required standard, which will be managed as part of the graduation requirements. The detailed operational guidelines are as follows.
A. 대상 (Eligibility)
International students who were newly admitted or transferred to the Graduate School from the 2022 academic year onward
B. Background and Purpose
As an important requirement for the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), this policy aims to ensure that international students possess a certain level of officially recognized language proficiency as a graduation requirement.
C. Standards and Procedures
1) Language Proficiency Standards
Official language proficiency standards for international graduate students required for obtaining a degree are shown in the table below.

2) Procedure
Students who obtain a language test score that meets the graduation requirement must submit a Confirmation Form of Requirement Fulfillment (separate form) along with supporting documents (original language test score report) within the designated period during the semester in which they intend to graduate (or complete their program).
The documents must be submitted to the Graduate School Academic Affairs Office via the International Exchange Team, and the results will be reflected during the graduation review process.
3) Important Notes
-
International students must submit the language proficiency verification documents within the designated period. If they fail to do so, they will be considered as having completed the program without graduation, even if other graduation requirements are satisfied.
-
The language test score report must be valid as of the submission date.
-
If a forged or falsified language test score report is submitted or any fraudulent act is discovered, the student will not be eligible for graduation and may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with university regulations.
