In the 2021 Korean academic journal assessment conducted by the Korea Research Foundation, SUVANNABHUMI, an English academic Journal published by the Korea Institute for ASEAN Studies, Busan University of Foreign Studies(KIAS-BUFS), is selected as a KCI registered journal by scoring total 93.63 points, 27 points in system evaluation and 66.63 points in content evaluation. 

In this evaluation, the five evaluators gave high scores on the journal content and system evaluation. They recommended that “SUVANNABHUMI is valuable in terms of strengthening exchanges among Southeast Asian scholars, and meaningful in terms of securing various views from Southeast Asian scholars. SUVANNABHUMI has a good foundation to develop a high standard international academic journal.” They added that “despite its specificity as an English academic journal, efforts to systematize the submission system and introduce a strict evaluation system were well found.”

With this KCI registration as an opportunity the Korea Institute for ASEAN Studies will give more efforts to develop SUVANNABHUMI as a valuable academic journal to promote ASEAN and Southeast Asian studies. The editorial board of SUVANNABHUMI represented by the editor Dr. Victor T. King is expecting continuous support and cooperation from the concerned Korean and Southeast Asian scholars.
